Originally a singer-songwriter from Orlando, Florida, Shayna Leigh lights up the summer stage with her soulful singing and honest lyrics. Her second EP, due out before fall, will contain the latest single titled “Drive.” Undoubtedly, this track emphasizes the singer’s country-pop style and personal belief that, “most of us have gotten really good at telling everyone we’re doing ‘fine’ when we’re not feeling so fine.” I think we all needed to hear that, so thank you, Shayna.
The single’s pop melody maintains a light and airy backdrop to the front-and-center vocals. Shayna Leigh takes the reigns from the verse to the chorus with punchy lines that inevitably move you to clap with the instrumentals. In addition, the song sends an inspiring message about putting your heart on drive and challenging yourself on the road when she sings, “Find out what you’re worth when you take that curve.” Each verse nudges you forward in a happy, compelling tone as you fast forward to “One gear gets you out of here.” Done. [But there's more.] The well-shaped structure leads to an unforgettable bridge: “Cry, oh you’re gonna cry, finger to the sky.” Simple and enlightening.
The NYC rising talent is already familiar performing in sold-out venues such as Rams Head Tavern in Maryland, The Living Room in New York, and World Café Live in Pennsylvania. She has also made a select appearance in London. Decidedly, in more recent news, Shayna Leigh will be touring the East Coast this August with D.C. rock band, Honor By August, and American solo artist, Howie Day.
